OUR STORY

Started with a cellar,
kept by a notebook.

FLUXERA began as a personal tasting ledger — a few pages tracking bottles opened, bottles waiting, and the years in between. Somewhere along the way, the ledger asked to be shared. The first journal entry was written in 2021, at 2 a.m., next to an open bottle of a 1996 single malt that had quietly earned its patience.

Today FLUXERA is a small, stubbornly independent site: an editorial journal about collecting and appreciation, paired with a growing toolkit of calculators and references for people who take bottles seriously. It remains a one-editor project, which means every word is accountable to the same pair of eyes — and every tool is built because a real question deserved an answer.

EDITORIAL PRINCIPLES

What we hold the glass up to

Accuracy first

Vintages, appellations, and numbers are checked twice. A date wrong by a year can cost a collector a decade of patience.

Honesty over hype

We name what we do not know. Market talk and auction lore are labelled as such, never dressed up as fact.

Built for collectors

Every tool exists to answer a real question — how old is this bottle, when to open it, what a collection is worth today.

Independent by design

No sponsored rankings, no affiliate pressure. The recommendation is the one we would take ourselves.

THE EDITOR

Elias Marlow

Founder & Editor — collector, taster, chronicler of patience

Elias has spent the better part of two decades collecting whiskies and wines, mostly the ones that reward waiting. He writes the journal, builds the tools, and answers the mail. When not at the keyboard, he is usually in a cellar, checking a hygrometer.
